When he purchased the Rock Island, Ill., Air America affiliate WKBF-AM in October 2006, Quad Cities Media owner Randy Melchert said the station was struggling.

Melchert said he received “a lot of nasty mail” when he “pulled the plug” on the station's liberal content provided by Air America.

Randy Melchert to Run for 24th State Assembly Seat

Randy Melchert announced today that he is running for 24th Assembly Seat in the Wisconsin Legislature. Melchert filed the papers with the Government Accountability Board this morning and will be collecting nomination signatures starting June 1st. The 24th Assembly District represents all of Butler and Germantown, most of Menomonee Falls, and parts of Richfield. The incumbent Representative Suzanne Jeskewitz announced on May 8th that she is retiring from the Legislature.
